…..One
One week left ….
Sitting in the Best Western in Bowmanville, after a successful day ….that’s right, a day of completed tasks and the happy surprise that since we left the boat very late Friday evening, Robert has installed the new deck light on the mast and run the new VHF cable. He was also able to drill the hole and place the garboard drain at the end of his very busy day. (big relief!)
A very warm day. So nice to see all the families enjoying the park at the lake, in a welcome breeze.
Thrilled to find the storage lockers under the floor boards! We don’t know why we never looked before and only found them when Robert was running wire for the fog horn. I spent the first few hours scrubbing them and redistributing some of the canned goods, additional food supplies and motor oil. (Photos taken so we remember where we put what!) This means less to be stored in the aft cabin.
Dry goods are now all in place and coolers will accompany us later in the week when the fridge is cold. (Last grocery shop must be scheduled!)
Harald completed the install of the new lifelines and fixed some loose stair treads on the swim ladder and fetched fresh water at my request.
After lunch we head down to the dock area to clean the mast and check in with Joanne on what is needed by us before tomorrow’s launch. We arrive at the hotel feeling like the clock is not running away without us ready for our departure set for just 9 days. Robert will install the mast pulpit after the mast is set and reset one stanchion this week, hoping to eliminate the little leak in the galley.
After the mast is set tomorrow, we can add the boom and sails and place cabin cushions. Back the next day for the diesel mechanic visit and our first night onboard and back with a bigger vehicle on Saturday with clothes, dinghy and outboard. The list at home is not getting any shorter so as great as we feel today with so much completed at the boat, the house is calling.
